About the Project

This project was created as a Senior Capstone through the Honors College at Western Washington University. As someone who fell in love with the Cottagecore aesthetic, I wanted to learn more about its influences, drivors, and social implications. This project is ongoing, as the movement itself is still growing and developing. I plan on continuing my learning on this topic and will hopefully be able to grow this website as a refrence point for that new knowledge. 

I started the project in Spring of 2021, and spent the next seven months reading, writing, and developing my ideas. The project has changed a lot since the beginning. I had to narrow my scope quite a bit to make this feasible to finish in time for my graduation. I discovered there was a lot more to talk about in each section than I had originally anticipated, and decided to focus my energy on delving deep into each topic.

Additionally, I found I wasn't comfortable writing about many issues found in the Cottagecore movement, I lack the life experience needed to do them justice, and there are plenty of amazing writers out there who do have that experience already talking about it.
